The Alternative Education Resource Organization (AERO) is a non-profit organization to advance learner-centered approaches to education. Their page has many links to schools and other organizations, as well as books, magazines and other resources.

The Directory of Democratic Education has information on democratic schools and colleges, conferences, articles, essays, books, documentaries, and more. It is continually being updated with the latest information on democratic education.

The Sudbury Valley School was founded in 1968 and is one of the more well-known democratic schools. Many other schools have modeled themselves after the Sudbury Valley School and are known as Sudbury schools. This site has links to some of those schools as well as FAQs, a bookstore, and an online library of readings about the Sudbury school model.

The Journal of Unschooling and Alternative Learning is an online publication exploring unschooling and learner-centered democratic education. Scholars from locations around the world contribute research articles to the journal, which are peer-reviewed before publication.

Creating Learning Communities is an online resource center supporting cooperative community life-long learning centers (CCL-LLCs). This site includes the full text of the book "Creating Learning Communities."

The National Coalition of Alternative Community Schools (NCACS) is a nonprofit educational organization supporting educational alternatives. They have resources for alternatives to mainstream schooling including the National Directory of Alternative Schools, homeschooling/unschooling information, and books and other publications.
